Live music puts me in the Christmas spirit. I have my top favorites: The Messiah, and classical traditional Christmas music during our Christmas Eve service at Central UMC.

My friend Lisa and I both love the Messiah so much we have watched it together for over 10 years. One year, the local Symphony decided to alternate the years that they would play it. 😳 Skipping was NOT an option, we had to find it somewhere else! We have our #Christmastraditions.

We asked around and stumbled upon Sing a Long Messiah in Columbia, SC (an hour drive) at the Washington Street UMC.

Last night I realized I cannot go back the standard concert style, this unique venue is amazing! There are groups of people with beautiful voices planted all over the church in addition to the ones performing in the front. The woman behind me sang in Soprano and sounded like an Angel, it literally gave me goosebumps and the tears just flow! When you think they couldn’t hit a higher note, they did.

The unique experience made you feel like you were in the Hallelujah Choir.  I knew I couldn’t possibly sing to their caliber, so I found it was best for everyone around me that I simply listen.

When I listen to my CDs in the car they don’t even hold a candle to experiencing the live concert.

One tradition is checked off and the other is another live event of Christmas Eve at our church with the family where I cannot promise that I won’t cry but I promise it will put me in the Christmas Spirit!
