Today is Barb’s actual birthday, and we planned to celebrate her at lunchtime. Beverly, Lisa, and I kicked off the morning slow—coffee in hand, catching up and enjoying the quiet while we waited for Cassandra to arrive at 9:30 so we could start our day early.

We headed to the Spartina Warehouse Sale—this year held at Bluffton High School. When we pulled up, the line outside looked totally reasonable. We thought this was the line… until we stepped inside and realized—nope. That was just the warm-up. Once they scanned our ticket, we found ourselves in a weaving, winding maze of hallways that felt more like a theme park queue. Around every corner, another stretch of line.

Our ticketed entry time was 10:30, and I think we finally made it in the doors around 10:35. I made a beeline for the dresses and didn’t mess around—walked out with seven phenomenal finds.

We regrouped and got our traditional balloon arch photo!

When we left I said we have so far to walk to the car, suddenly this guy shows up with a golf cart and drove us to the other side of the parking lot!!

We got a ride to our car!

We head to Frankie Bones for lunch—and surprise! My son and his family showed up at the exact same time, along with Sarah Ann’s mom and her friend, who were heading to Spartina later. It turned into an accidental reunion. My friends got to meet baby Brooks for the first time, and Jack got to tell Barb happy birthday in person—heart-melter moment.

Next up: LETTRS. I snagged a pair of shoes and a really cute raincoat, then we headed home for some well-earned floating in the Paradise Pool.

Our hard earned float time

We got about an hour of sunshine before—you guessed it—another storm rolled in and parked itself right on top of us. So much for our plans to catch the band at the bandshell. Rained out, again.

But we rallied. Threw on something comfy, grabbed dinner at Bar & Chill.

B&C dinner and music

We ended the night on the lanai with the cat, swapping stories and soaking up the calm. It was the perfect low-key wrap to a high-energy day.
